HS Officer - Letchworth - Utilities

We are partnering with a ‘cradle to grave’ project delivery partner specialising in planning, commercial and project management. Due to continued growth in their team, they are seeking a HS Officer to aid with their development in Letchworth.

Responsibilities
Ensure Compliance with Safety Legislation: Monitor site practices to ensure compliance with relevant UK legislation (e.g., Health and Safety at Work Act, CDM 2015) and company safety procedures specific to water utilities work.
Carry Out Site Inspections and Audits: Conduct regular audits and inspections across excavation and reinstatement zones, identifying hazards and enforcing corrective measures promptly.
Deliver Inductions and Safety Briefings: Provide clear, water-utility-specific site inductions and toolbox talks to operatives, subcontractors, and visitors, covering topics such as water main isolation, trench safety, and hygiene control.
Incident Reporting and Investigation: Lead investigations into accidents, near-misses, or non-conformances. Ensure all incidents are documented accurately and lessons learned are shared with the wider team.
Permit-to-Work and Utility Coordination: Oversee the permit-to-work system for high-risk activities (e.g., deep excavation, confined space entry) and liaise closely with water network operators to ensure safe procedures when working on or near live assets.

Requirements

•    Existing Utilities or Civils experience required
•    NEBOSH + NRSWA or similar required
•    Must have UK Passport or RTW

Benefits

£50,000 - £55,000 + Vehicle + Benefits
